Following popular demand for more regional courses, Geoff is heading away from London for a two-day Certified Scrum Master training course in Birmingham; appealing to those in Northampton and the surrounding areas too.
CSM is the most popular agile accreditation in the world. A Certified ScrumMaster® helps project teams properly use Scrum, increasing the likelihood of the project’s overall success. A CSM understands Scrum values and principles as well as the framework and provides a level of knowledge and expertise above and beyond that of typical project managers.
A CSM acts as a servant leader helping the rest of the Scrum team work together and learn the Scrum framework. A CSM also protects the team from both internal and external distractions.
The basics of being a ScrumMaster are fairly straightforward but being a great ScrumMaster, one who truly embodies the principles of servant-leadership and helps move a team to the high performance levels possible with Scrum, is much harder and much more elusive.
This Scrum course in Birmingham is taught by respected Certified Scrum Trainer and Certified Scrum Coach Geoff Watts. In more than ten years of coaching Scrum teams Geoff has identified patterns that separate a good ScrumMaster from a great one and his courses have been proven to help people really grasp this difficult role and make a difference in the workplace.
The CSM Course Geoff ran in October 2011 was the best course that I have ever been on!

Your CSM Certificate
After successfully completing this Scrum course in Birmingham you will be entered for the CSM exam, hosted by the Scrum Alliance. Once you have passed this exam, you will earn your CSM certification. More details on the CSM exam can be found here.
By earning a Certified ScrumMaster® certification you:
- Expand your career opportunities by staying relevant and marketable across all industry sectors adopting Agile practices.
- Demonstrate to employers and peers your attainment of core Scrum knowledge.
- Learn the foundation of Scrum and the scope of the Certified ScrumMaster’s role from the best minds in Scrum.
- Engage with a community of recognised Scrum experts who are committed to continuous improvement.
As a CSM, you will be able to fill the role of ScrumMaster or Scrum team member. Through the certification process, you will gain an understanding of the Scrum framework, including team roles, activities, and artifacts.
With your CSM certificate, you will have access to local user groups (the one in Birmingham is well-established and there was one recently set up in Northampton), online social networks, and additional resources that are only available to Scrum Alliance members.
In this Birmingham course, Geoff will go beyond the basics of the standard CSM class and delve into the psychology of teamwork and the skills a ScrumMaster really needs to help the team get the best out of themselves and Scrum.
The class is kept small (no more than 20 people and usually around 12) and all attendees are encouraged to co-own and mould the agenda by bringing their own challenges, questions and areas of interest in order to make the learning as personal as possible.
Through my career I’ve seen a lot of instructors and I have to say that Geoff is the best I have ever met. The way the knowledge was presented made it interesting and the supporting exercises were very good! A colleague told me to wait for a Scrum course instructed by Geoff rather than participate in the first available course. And I must agree.
